Don't Despise Trifles.

"Don't despise trifles. When two people make a home, the happiness of that home depends on trifles." - Blanche Ebbutt

I've been enjoying browsing through "Don'ts for Wives", a book of "hints from an old hand," written by Blanche Ebbutt in 1913 and reprinted in 2007 by A&C Black Publishers.

Some of her pearls of wisdom stand the test of time, some not. I think the phrase above is as fine now as it was then.

Marriages are founded on lofty ideas, but can founder on the rocks of the everyday. Look after those trifles! (Though Ebbutt does go on to talk about potatoes and lost me at that point). Still! Food for thought.
